My 'date' tonight reminded me of God's graciousness.
We hoped for bigger plans. But reality is, bigger is not always possible. What is possible...can blossom from mundane to beautiful. A fire...good wine...boys with no naps who go to bed early...laughter....enjoying each other...remembering. Its the remembering that makes me tear up, makes me want to hug Scott and not let go. It wasn't that long ago, maybe four years, that we both admitted we weren't sure our marriage would make it another year. And, in those days, before Jesus, there wasn't a lot of incentive to make it, to fight harder or care to push on...'pushing on' meant giving up something, compromising...why bother? We know, we know, that if Jesus hadn't come into our lives in the most gracious, loving way that He did, our love story would have a very different ending. But praise to God that He did come into our lives. He did change our hearts. The 'big plans' in date night or our lives is so different now. We can trust in Him, rest in Him, together. Holding hands and listening to the crackle of a fire provides more contentment than we deserve.
